Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 concentrations and prevalence of cardiovascular disease among type 2 diabetic patients.

چکیده
A ccumulating research suggests that low 25-hydroxyv i t amin D3 [25(OH)D] concentrations may be inversely associated with type 2 diabetes (1–3), metabolic syndrome (4,5), insulin resistance (6), and cardiovascular disease (CVD) (7). Much remains to be learned, however, about the relationships between vitamin D status, metabolic syndrome, and CVD. Furthermore, the published data in humans arguing that hypovitaminosis D is a CVD risk factor remain conflicting (8,9). Because this topic has received scant attention and the available information on associations between vitamin D status and CVD among type 2 diabetic adults was lacking, we examined the relationships between serum 25(OH)D concentrations and prevalent CVD in type 2 diabetic adults.

Background and Objective: Previous studies indicate an inverse association of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin-D level with obesity, metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular events. This study was aimed to assess metabolic syndrome correlation with serum Vit-D levels of physicians in Zanjan city (Iran). Materials and Methods: In an analytical cross-sectional study, a total of 108 physicians were selected a...
متن کاملAnalysis of 25(OH)D Serum Concentrations of Hospitalized Elderly Patients in the Shanghai Area
OBJECTIVE To find an association between basic characteristics, seasons as well as disease types and 25-Hydroxyvitamin D serum concentrations in Chinese patients. METHODS We randomly selected 5470 Chinese patients with various diseases, who were hospitalized between May 2012 and August 2013 in Shanghai and analyzed their serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 (25 (OH)D2) and 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D...
متن کاملAssociation between 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency and cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetic patients with mild kidney dysfunction.
BACKGROUND A potentially modifiable and underestimated risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in subjects with kidney dysfunction is 25-hydroxyvitamin D deficiency, although the relationship between inadequate vitamin D status and manifest CVD in type 2 diabetic subjects with mild kidney impairment has not been extensively examined. METHODS We evaluated the relationship between serum 25...
متن کاملAssociation of serum osteoprotegerin with vascular calcification in patients with type 2 diabetes
BACKGROUND Osteoprotegerin is a member of the tumor necrosis factor-related family and inhibits RANK stimulation of osteoclast formation as a soluble decoy receptor. The goal of this study was to determine the relationship of serum osteoprotegerin with vascular calcification in patients with type 2 diabetes. METHODS The subjects were 124 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, including 88 ma...
متن کاملAssociation between serum level of vitamin D and lipid profiles in type 2 diabetic patients in Iran
BACKGROUND It is suggested that vitamin D deficiency is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) via its effect on lipid profiles. The objective of this study was to determine the association between fasting serum levels of 25(OH) D and lipid profiles in patients with type 2 diabetes. METHODS This cross-sectional study was conducted on 108 type 2 diabetics. Patients were selected randomly...
